Hotmail, Thunderbird, pop3 and password.

These days I’ve been receiving the well-knownnegative vibes” response while trying to get email from Hotmail, using the Hotmail extension with Thunderbird.

Glad I did get this problem actually, because I found out that, for quite a while now, Microsoft has made available a pop3 mail server. So I changed my account settings, and got rid of the extension, as the following link suggests:

Howeverrrrrrr :) , after the change I still could not login into the servers. Actually, I got “authentication failed“. Strangely enough, seems that the password length is a issue with the Live pop3 servers :( , as stated in this forum. I don’t actually recall how many characters I had in the password, but I think maybe 20 or so. I decided to change it to a 8 character password and, voilĂ , it works!

Hope it helps.

Thanks
